Community Improvements!!!

We are big believers in giving everyone a voice in our community. Why would you want to live somewhere if you didn't feel like you were being heard? We have a confidential suggestion box for anyone who wishes to use it, and we welcome residents to stop into the community center to tell us what we can do to improve their community. We believe that you can never be done making a place better! In the last year, we've opened our community center (where we've had many events and clubs form and meet) and we've worked on some large and small scale projects to make this community the most desirable 55+ Community in the Seacoast!

Landscaping might not seem like a big deal, but it sure made a huge improvement in front of our sign and by the entrance ways to our community! Spring has certainly brought some flowers here!

We're also restoring and cleaning our lanterns along our streets. We love the New England-style look it brings to our community and the cozy feeling they bring when lit at night.

We are now in the process of having Air Conditioning installed in our community center! Now you can relax in the cool air while playing BINGO or going to our sewing club meeting!

We're also improving our compost pile area. We supply our residents with a very convenient compost pile which allows everyone to dispose of either brush or leaves. We are designating piles for each type of rubbish. Now, only other types of rubbish (such as trash and non-natural items) need to be disposed of via trash receptacles.

And, one very exciting update: Our roads were in great need of improvement. Below, you can see the before pictures. They were old and we certainly got great use out of them, but they were ready to be redone. After a few weeks of work from a great team of professionals, we have a road that is beautifully done and will last for a very long time! We are also updating curbs and installing speed bumps in order to keep our community safe, asthetically pleasing and comfortable for all who live here!

We are thrilled with the outcome of our community so far and we have many plans for the future to make our community even better quality! We thank everyone for your comments and encouragment, and for your honesty about the direction you feel we need to head in. We are so proud of our residents and our community!

Here are the pictures from our most recent open house, which was held July 3rd at Exeter River Landing! We got to meet many interesting and friendly people, and show them around our community! June Newsletter: An Interview with Roberta Pevear

An Interview with Roberta Pevear
We have so many citizens that we are so proud of! This month, we wanted to share this interview with Roberta Pevear, an Exeter River Landing resident who has recently published Write Quick: War and a Woman's Life in Letters 1835-1867. Roberta has always been interested in genealogy; it was a passion she inherited from her mother, and one that she shared with her husband, Eddie. Growing up, Roberta heard stories of her great grandparents and her relatives. The stories were so vividly told, it was as if she knew them. "I love them," Roberta explains. Together with her mother and husband, Roberta compiled many albums of letters written between relatives, tombstone rubbings, photographs of houses built or lived in by relatives and any other information they could acquire. Finally, Roberta was able to share all this information with the world, and does so in her book. Have you always been interested in your own genealogy? Roberta's advice to amateur historians: "Do it the fun way!" This means, avoic relying too heavily on technology to gain information. Go to relevant places to your heritage, take notes by hand, take photographs, keep maps, etc. Roberta encourages anyone interested to give this work a try. At the close of our conversation, Roberta expressed how interesting our community is: "Everyone in here," she remarked "has a story." Pick up a copy of Roberta's book. You won't be disappointed! Congratulations, Roberta!
